- Description:
- Oxford, late 1860s. Edward Lloyd Thomas (1825-1898). He graduated from Emory College in 1846 and later served in the war with Mexico. During the Civil War he led the 35th Regiment Georgia Volunteer Infantry. By the end of the war he had attained the rank of brigadier general. President Grover Cleveland appointed him to a position with the Land Department and then later on with the Indian Bureau. Thomas died in what is now Oklahoma.
