- Gilmer County, ca. 1860? LeAnder Jones of Gilmer County was well known for his having killed a dozen Yankees in one encounter when he served in the Civil War. He Served in Co. H, 65th Regiment Georgia Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War. He may have also served in Co. E, 8th Regiment Georgia State Troops.
