- Description:
- Meriwether County, early 1890s. Susan Jennett Render Crowder (Mrs. James C.) and her nine children pose for a photograph in front of their home. Mrs. Crowder is seated at right. Her husband died in 1885. The home was known as the McGehee-Crowder home and was located between Greenville and Durand. It was built ca. 1845-1850 by Reverend Thomas Franklin McGehee. When Reverend McGehee died in 1876, the house was purchased by James C. Crowder.
