- Thomson, 1968. Members of the Board of Directors of the First National Bank attend groundbreaking ceremonies for a branch that was to be built on Jackson Street. A drawing of what the branch will look like is seen on the easel behind the group. The bank, whose main office was located on Main Street, was organized in 1902 as Farmers and Merchants Bank. It became a national bank and the name changed ca. 1907. Left to right: William C. Leverette, H.T. Modbley, Jones R. Arnold, Jim F. Usry, Paul A. Bowden, John T.
