- Thomson, late 1940s. Paul A. Bowden (left) and Reverend Bob Smith participate in a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of remodeling done to the First National Bank located on Main Street. Mr. Bowden was the president of the bank. The bank was organized in 1902 as Farmers and Merchants Bank. It became a national bank and its name changed ca. 1907.
