- Description:
- McDuffie County, 1978. The Rock House located about four miles northwest of Thomson. It was built ca. 1785 by Thomas Ansley (1737-1809) who was born in New Jersey but came to Georgia in 1768 from North Carolina with the Quakers. It is thought that Ansley was not a Quaker. The house is the only surviving structure from the Wrightsboro Quaker Community and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The design of the house resembles that used in New Jersey and New England. This is a view of the porch side facing south. The porch was added later. The basement can also be seen.
