- Description:
- McDuffie County, Feb. 14, 1978. Sample package which contained marijuana smuggled into the United States from Colombia, South America. 21 tons of marijuana was aboard a DC-7 airplane that ran out of fuel and landed at the McDuffie-Thomson Airport. The smugglers escaped by stealing a private airplane. The confiscated marijuana was said to be worth $21 million on the street.
