- McDuffie County, Feb. 14, 1978. Interior of the DC-7 airplane which contained 21 tons of marijuana from Colombia, South America. The airplane ran out of fuel and landed here at the McDuffie-Thomson Airport. The smugglers escaped by stealing a private airplane. The confiscated marijuana was said to be worth $21 million on the street.
