- Dublin, ca. 1900. Hardy Smith, born in 1841, wearing his Confederate uniform. During the Civil War he served in Company H, 14th Regiment Georgia Volunteer Infantry. He attained the rank of captain by the end of the war. He was wounded and lost his right arm in one of the battles. After the war he held several county posts as well as managing business interests.
