2003/06/11: Note that the correct spelling is "Goggins." Goggins was originally part of Monroe County but is now in Lamar County. Lamar County was formed in 1920 from the eastern section of Pike County and western section of Monroe County. According to Georgia Place Names, Goggins was named for William Goggins, the father of John F. Goggins, who donated the land for the station. - External Identifiers:
