- Wrightsville, 1914. Laudice Lovett poses for this photograph wearing his baseball uniform from Warthen College. This school had begun in 1888 as the Nannie Lou Warthen Institute. It was the district high school for the Sandersville District South Georgia Conference, Methodist Episcopal Church, South. In 1891 it was chartered as a college although the name was not changed to Warthen College until the early 1900s. When the college program was discontinued, the high school program was taken over by the Warthen Board of Education.
