- Hall County? March 1, 1950. Part of the crowd and vehicles at the site where ceremonies to break ground for Buford Dam were being held. Work on the dam, which is located in Forsyth County, was completed by the U.S. Corps of Engineers in 1957. The dam created Lake Lanier which flows into both Forsyth and Hall counties.
