- Gainesville, 1950s. Mather Furniture Co. located on Green Street. Philco products were sold there. The business began in 1905 in Austell, Ga. in Cobb County where chairs, ladders and swings were built. Later the business moved to Gainesville. In 1928 John and Roy Mather incorporated.
