- Description:
- Gainesville, 1960. Ruins of the First Baptist Church located at the corner of Green and Washington Streets. The church had been dedicated in 1909. It was destroyed by fire on Feb. 12, 1960. The damage was said to have been put at $600,000. After the fire, Warren Castle purchased the columns and let Brevard Williams put them in his pasture located north of Dillard, Ga. in Rabun County. They mark the line between Georgia and North Carolina. The columns are being removed here.
