- Gainesville, Sept. 19, 1959. Steam locomotive no. 203 on the Gainesville Midland Railroad on the day of its final journey between Gainesville, Jefferson, Athens, and Winder. It was then retired from service. In 1904 the Gainesville, Jefferson and Southern Railroad became the Gainesville Midland Railroad.
