- Gainesville, June 11, 1931. Group of blacks sitting on the porch and steps of a cabin located in City Park along North Green Street. The cabin had been built so that blacks might entertain members of the National Editorial Association who were attending a meeting in Gainesville. This group was composed of editors and publishers of small town newspapers. Today it is known as the National Newspaper Association.
