- Gainesville, 1919. Riverside Military Academy, a military preparatory school for boys, was chartered in 1906. After it was purchased by Col. Sandy Beaver in 1913, it began to show real growth.
2003/06/17: The Riverside Military Academy is still in existence.
2003/06/17: Sandy Beaver graduated from the University of Georgia and was Georgia's first Rhodes Scholar nominee. He was appointed to the University System of Georgia board of Regents by then-governor Eugene Talmadge in 1933. - External Identifiers:
