- Description:
- Greensboro, June 1941. Greene County "Gaol" or Jail was located at rear of the Greene County Courthouse. It was built ca. 1806. Its walls of granite are two feet thick. There was a trap door in the floor of the second story used to hang prisoners. In the 1890s this jail was replaced by the one seen at the far left.
