- Edward Augustus Copelan (1849-1918) was a prominent businessman in Greene County. He founded a bank which later became the Copelan National Bank and was one of the main forces behind the founding of the Mary-Leila Cotton Mill. Among his other accomplishments was his service in the Georgia Senate.
