- Description:
- Greensboro, Jan. 1974. Greene County "Gaol" or Jail was located at rear of Greene County Courthouse. It was built ca. 1806. Its walls of granite are two feet thick. There was a trap door in the floor of the second story used to hang prisoners. In the 1890s this jail was replaced by a new one.
