- Cairo, July 4, 1916. Automobiles bedecked with flags parade down Broad Street to celebrate the Fourth of July. The parade included at least twenty-five decorated automobiles, forerunners to the present day floats. The building at left advertises the Farmers and Merchants Bank. At right, one can see the California Fruit Store and Cigar Factory. Note that the streets are unpaved.
