- Calhoun, June 11, 1930. Willie Hamilton Boston poses for a photograph on her wedding day. She married Thomas Jefferson Brown in the First Methodist Church located on North Wall Street. Her parents were Dr. and Mrs. John H. Boston. They had founded the Mount Alto Bedspread Company ca. 1920 and were pioneers in the tufted bedspread industry in Gordon County. Mr. Brown and John H. Boston, Jr. founded the Georgia Textile Corp. in 1938. Mr. Brown founded Georgia Tufters, Inc. in 1945; Brown Laundry Inc. in 1952; Georgia Tufted Sales, Inc. N.Y. in 1969. Mrs. Brown has been active in many civic affairs over the years as well as working with her husband in their textile businesses.
