- Near Dalton (Whitfield County), 1912. Engine No. 179 of the Western & Atlantic Railroad. On June 12, 1912 passenger cars that were pulled by this engine derailed near Willowdale in Whitfield County. Many of the passengers, who lived in Calhoun, Ga., were on their way to a picnic.
