- Description:
- Calhoun, ca. 1920. Public schools located on College Street. The two-story brick building at the left was completed in 1903. It served students in grades 1-9, the only grades offered at that time. By 1913 the number of grades offered had reached 11. In 1917 a three-story brick structure, seen at the right, was erected as Calhoun High School. In 1937 the high school moved into a new facility on Oothcaloga Street. In 1974 the First Baptist Church acquired the College Street property. The buildings were demolished to make way for a new building for the First Baptist Church which was completed in 1976
