- Description:
- Calhoun, 1892. The building at the right was known as the Foster Building because it was built in 1877 by Thomas A. Foster. It is located at the corner of Court and North Wall Streets. Foster and James Monroe Harlan operated Foster and Harlan, an early department store in it. In 1897 the building was remodeled. Later J.A. Strain & Co., a men's store, was located in it. The Calhoun Watch Shop has occupied the building since 1954. Remodeling was done again in 1976. This photograph was taken from atop the H.H. Doughty Building. The Hillhouse Warehouse is at the left.
