- Calhoun, July 4, 1897. Members of a softball team pose for a photograph in front of the Rankin House located on Court Street. The hotel, built in 1885, may also have been known as Haynes House. Left to right: Cicero Curtiss, John Smith, Dink Offutt, Frank Wyatt, Bunk Ingram, William Robertson Rankin, Sr., Gene Doughty, John Haynes, Henry Roff, Walt Duggan. The hotel was razed in the 1960s.
