- Gordon County, 1945-1947. Some Rotary Club members pose for a photograph at a picnic held at Amakanata. Chicken barbecue was the main course. Left to right: Lawrence Moss, Otto C. Langford, Estes David, Jim Reeve. Amakanata, the Cherokee word meaning "Spring of the Hunter," was a fish hatchery started by James Harris Reeve, Jr. In 1956 James Carl Fox became the owner.
