- Calhoun, November 15, 1977. John Martin Brown (center) poses for a photograph on "John M. Brown Day." The city was honoring him in this way. Mayor W.C. Burdette at left and Burton J. Bell at right. Mr. Brown is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Brown, Sr. He is affilliated with his family's firms, Georgia Textile Corp. and Georgia Tufter's, Inc. He was one of the organizers of the Gordon County Historical Society. He is the compiler and editor of Yesteryears; Pictorial History of Calhoun and Gordon County, Georgia, 1830-1977.
