- Calhoun, November 18, 1938. Construction of the Mount Alto Bedspread Company plant. The company was founded by Dr. John H. Boston ca. 1920 to supply materials for the tufted bedspread industry in Gordon County. Over the years it expanded. The plant seen in this photograph is said to have been the first modern tufted textile mill in Calhoun. Later it became Velvetone & Forrest Mills located on South Wall Street.
