- Description:
- Calhoun, early 1930s. Court Street looking toward the Gordon County Courthouse. The courthouse was completed in 1889. The home seen atop the hill at the left was that of Dr. John H. Boston. It was known as Mount Alto. Contractor W. Laurence Hillhouse built the home in 1909. The J. Roy McGinty family later occupied it. Dr. Boston founded the Mount Alto Bedspread Company ca. 1920. He was a pioneer in the tufted bedspread industry in Gordon County.
