- "Atlanta, Georgia probably on the corner of Alabama and Whitehall Streets, ca. 1890. Interior view of the Maddox-Rucker Banking Company. This bank evolved from a mercantile company founded by Colonel Robert Flounoy Maddox. In 1908 the bank became the American National Bank and in 1916 merged with the Atlanta National Bank, later the First National Bank of Atlanta. Colonel Maddox's son, Robert Foster Maddox later became Vice President of the bank, and is pictured on the left behind the teller wall with the young boy. "--from field notes
