2003/06/12: Founded in 1878, the Southern Medical College combined with the Atlanta Medical College in 1898 to form the Atlanta College of Physicians and Surgeons. The college merged with Atlanta School of Medicine in 1913 and was renamed Atlanta Medical College. In 1915, it became Emory University School of Medicine - External Identifiers:
