- Description:
- Franklin County, ca. 1855-1865. Pierce Columbus Key was a surveyor and descendant of Frances Scott Key. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel during the Civil war for his service with Co. I, 4th Cavalry Georgia State Guards. Mr. Key was killed at the Battle of Griswoldville, Georgia in 1865. He was married to Sarah Elizabeth Hunter Ash. They are both buried at the Hebron Presbyterian Church located in lower Banks County near the Hudson River.
