- Description:
- Klondike Community, ca. 1880s. Eugenia Powell (Mrs. George Washington) in front of Powell Academy located four miles south of Lithonia. The school was one of the earliest in the county. The school closed in 1914, and the structure was moved 150 yards down the hill so that the new Klondike School could be built on the site.
