- "Decatur, ca. 1862. Elijah Henry Clarke in an unusual style cap, a Kepi, used as rain cover or as protection against sun. Probably Decatur where he joined Co. D, 42d Regt., DeKalb Rangers, CSA in March 4, 1862."--from field notes
2003/01/27: According to Vanishing DeKalb, by the DeKalb Historical Society, (pg. 106) Clarke had attained the rank of captain by May of 1863 and was among the soldiers to surrender in Greensboro, N.C. on April 26, 1865. - External Identifiers:
