- Description:
- Bainbridge, ca. 1905. Traveling show, featuring a display of the battle between the ships Monitor and Merrimac, is set up at the corner of Broad and Broughton Streets. This particular view faces north. The reenactment of this famous Civil War battle was quite popular due primarily to the quality of this exhibit, which was termed, "exiting and educational." Signs to the right and left of the entrance to the exhibit read, "Not a moving picture." Note the street light hanging from a wire above the street.
