- "Cherokee County, after 1861. Brice Mill, a grist mill. 3 to 4 miles southwest of Canton. It ground wheat and corn. Mary Mason Brock's (donor) uncle bought it in 1861 for $3,300 ( 2 houses and farmland). Brock's grandfather died in 1859. Her father was a minor, and his brother-in-law, Tyre Davis, cheated her father and grandmother out of their inheritance."--from field notes
