- "Austell, July 12, 1914. Davis Family Reunion, Sunday July 12, 1914 at the home of Will and Katie Davis in Austell. The house stood where the Newman Building is now, on the corner of Love and Jefferson Streets. The occasion was the visit of Lucy Stroud Battle of Arkansas, daughter of Mary Elizabeth Davis Stroud, sister to Bud, George, Drew, Julia Ann, and Jeff. The Marietta Journal reported on July 17, 1914 in its Austell news section: It certainly was a happy crowd that gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W.P. Davis on Sunday. The occasion was a family reunion in honor of relatives visiting them from Arkansas. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Davis of Riverside were among the out-of-town visitors.
