- Fort Gaines. Two children stand by the symbol of the Globe Tavern. The Globe Tavern located at the corner of Washington and Carroll Streets was first operated by Charles Suddolph. When the tavern burned in 1873, a Mrs. Raymur asked if the brass globe might be put in her yard.
