- Description:
- Moultrie, 1950s. Home of D. A. Autrey, located at 604 South Main Street was built in 1895 by D. M. Reaves, a brother of Mrs. Autrey. He and his family lived there until the home was bought by Mrs. Autrey. D. A. Autrey was a prominent Moultrie citizen who was said to have had one hundred thousand dollars interest in Autreyville, Ga. He was in the naval stores business. Mr. Autrey moved to Moultrie after buying the house from Mr. Reaves in 1902. The house was sold by Lucile Autrey, sole remaining heir, in 1954, to a group of men and was razed by them to build the Town Terrace Motel.
