- Description:
- Burke County, 1949. Bellevue Plantation House. Bellevue, located south of Waynesboro and just west of U.S. Highway 25 has been owned by members of the Carswell family since 1835. During the Civil War a rear guard action occurred here between the Union and Confederate cavalry. Although the home still bears the marks of several minie balls, the home was not burned.
