- Waynesboro, ca. 1940s. "Bobby" Tyre Jones (left), Tyrus "Ty" Raymond Cobb (middle), and an unidentified man talking during the field trials. Waynesboro became famous for being the "Bird Dog Capital of the World". Both Jones and Cobb were Native Georgians. Jones was renown as an amateur golfer and Cobb was a professional baseball player with the Detroit Tigers of the American League.
