- Burke County, ca. 1900. Big Buckhead Baptist Church, which was established ca. 1774. The church was located in Burke County until Aug. 17, 1905 when this area was part of the land which formed the newly created Jenkins County. The church is said to be the third oldest Baptist church in the state.
