- Barrow County, 1953. Interior of first and second grade classroom at Mathews School. The teacher, Mrs. Doris Sheats, taught a unit on having a good breakfast. At its end the class had breakfast at school. The students helped provide the food. Note breakfasts on top of each child's desk; furnace at rear; bookcases made from apple crates; horseshoes and gourds on top shelf used as musical instruments. Mathews School was built in 1931-1932. It was consolidated in 1957-1958 with Auburn and Bethlehem.
