- Description:
- Winder, ca. 1890s. Home of N.J. Kelly, located at the corner of Broad Street and Midland Avenue, was built in 1890. Mr. and Mrs. Kelly and their housekeeper are seen on the porch. Note the quilt, which is hanging on the second story railing. Kelly was a local merchant and was the first mayor of Jug Tavern. He took office Jan. 8, 1885. The name Jug Tavern was changed to Winder in 1893. The home is no longer there. City Hall stands on the site today.
