- "Bibb County. Granite Hill (Built in Sparta) Hancock County/ Bibb County at present. Built 1845. Built by Colonel Andrew Jackson Lane. Moved to Holly Bluff by great grandson and was restored by him. Taken apart. Removed roof, chimney, porch, and columns. Then cut out hall and then moved the side sections. Then transported to Macon (Holly Bluff). Lower floor two feet thick granite mined from granite quarry on plantation. (owned by Prentis Stillwell Edwards, Jr.)"--from field notes
