- Description:
- Macon, 1909. Grand Opera House located at 639 Mulberry Street. The original auditorium of the Academy of Music, built 1883-1884, remains that of the opera house. In 1905 the Academy underwent a complete renovation. The facade was replaced by a seven story office building seen in this photograph. The office building lobby gave access to the foyer of the theater behind it. In 1969 it was renovated so that it would be useful once more. It re-opened in 1970.
