- Description:
- Milledgeville, ca. 1940-1941. Darien Bank, located at East Greene and South Wilkinson Streets, was built in 1818 as a branch of the Bank of Darien. It has had many uses. Gen. LaFayette is said to have been entertained there in 1825 by the Masons when he visited Milledgeville. It housed a newspaper, a private school, students at Georgia Military College. It was used as an apartment and is now the Darien Hotel.
