- Description:
- Midway. Thalian Hall built by Thalian Society, a literary society, at Oglethorpe University, located about 2 miles south of Milledgeville. It was built in late 1850s by Joseph Lane. It was used as a dormitory; Sidney Lanier occupied a room. During the Civil War, it housed wounded Confederate soldiers. In 1890 Dr. Henry Dawson Allen purchased the University property and established Allen's Invalid Home.
