- Milledgeville, ca. 1940. Gordon-Porter-Ward-Beall-Cline-O'Connor house, located at 311 West Greene Street, was built about 1820 by a Gen. Gordon, not of Civil War fame. It was leased as a residence for the governor while the Governor's Mansion was under construction. More recently, the late Flannery O'Connor lived there. Note the solid hand carved columns and the lattice brickwork.
